Assembling Your Truck Body!

Here is where you will find out how easy your change over will be.   Lower the cab and box down and see how things look.   Level the 4 x 4 frame in two directions (a must)....do not skip this step. Then square up the cab first-then let it down on the jacks.   Now square up the box-then lowering it down on the jacks.

Now put one fender on and center the wheel wells.   Depending on how the wheel center’s in the wheel well ........will give you a idea of what to do next.

Before you do any triming or cutting to make things work....just take some time and think it through) Here's where you have to make your project work. In some cases.....

You could if you need to

  • Heat up the firewall the let the cab come forward
  • Trim back the fender to center the wheel wells
  • adjust the fenders forward or backwards.
    • Always remember one thing affects another.   Keep in mind the hood and possible running boards

On this change over I had to heat up certain area’s of the firewall so the cab could come forward one inch.   The back of the value covers were hitting the firewall.   I’m sure every truck will be a little different.
