Making your front and rear cab mounts!!   Here most trucks will differ so use the measurements you took earlier.   Center to center on the front cab mount holes.  Now measure the outside to O/S of the frame where your front cab mounts will go.  This will tell you how long to make the horizontal leg for the front mounts.  Mount Sizes will vary!   Refer to the pictures below. Here's where you have to make your project work. I used 3" x 3" tube steel with a gusset plate on it.....

    You will measure

  • The frame from outside to outside
  • Then measure the distance between the two front cab mount holes
  • Subtract the two and then divide that in half and add a few inches
  • This measurement is very important.......do what ever you need to do to make sure that your cab is centered on the frame.   Later I'll discuss how to square things up after you have made your front mounts.

Now......that will give you an approximant. measurement of the horizontal leg on the front cab mount.   Then.... measure the vertical leg. Here you can raise your cab up some if you like.   Remember to make sure your cab is lowered down close to where you want it.   Make sure it is leveled out and then measure.

Always give your self some room.....a few inches long should not hurt anything.   Cut your pieces and tach weld them together.  Never weld anything up 100% until you know its going to work!

Here's a picture of the front cab mounts tacked  on the frame.   You will also want to put some kind of rubber bushing or something between the cab bottom and the cab mount.   This takes some road shock out and also relieves stress at that connection.
