How to rig the cab for lifting
Since I put a lifting beam in my garage I was able to hook a come-along as
tight to the top of the cab as possible. To achieve as much head room as
possible I used two 4 x 4’s and 2-3/8’ rod’s to hold each side together.
I used 1/2” lashing on the 4 byes to get the hook as close to the cab as possible.
Also since I did have the beam running right down the middle of the garage I was able to
hook up the box with a $20.00 come-along. I had the cab and the box hanging on the beam
as I swapped out frames.

Make sure that you put a piece of wood in between the walls of the box so it does not
bind in-ward as you pick it up off the frame.
I used a
- 1 ton come-along on the cab
- 2 4bys with two holes in both ends
- Threaded rod
- Lashing to tie around the 4bys
- Nylon straps on the box &
cheap come-along
- Use board inbetween box walls
- Saftey jacks after picking it up
- Always have a saftey plan in place
NEVER trade saftey for time. It doesn't take that much more time to put saftey jacks under your truck
right after you pick it up. Use any thing you can if your truck will be in the air for a while. Use a saftey rope or line
........anything just do it the safe way!
Here's a picture of the 56 ford just before I lifted it off the
original frame.
