Making a
Successful Change Over!
Here's a look at my 1956 F100. These pictures show the truck when I started and then when I put it back in stock
condition. Then a year later I did the change over to the 4 Wheel Drive. You'll see
as you go thru my web site the process it takes to complete your project!
Here's a picture of the truck when I had it apart and sanded. These picture were taken right after
I brought the truck home and got started on it.

To put the odds in my favor I had been thinking about this for over two years So I set up my garage so I could do this kind of work.....even as a kid my dad had a lifting beam
in our garage. This made a huge difference in saving time and making this whole project go easier.
The project centered around being able to lift the cab and box off of
the original chassis and slide the frame out and then slide the 4 wheel drive frame over into place. I knew if I could do that I would speed up the whole process.
There are a number of different ways you could lift the cab off of a truck!  If you did not have anyway to put in a lifting beam you could build a rolling "lifting A Frame" that you
could hook a come-along up to. Head room in a garage could be a problem so this would have to be done outside....preferably in one day and then roll your
chassis back in your garage out of the weather. After that you could have something in place in your garage that would let you lift up your cab just enough to let you line it up
(square it up) so you could set it back down on the cab mounts you will be making.
