Rebuild Classic Truck

Here's a picture of how far I took the truck down when I was redoing it.   My truck of choice is the 1956 F100 Ford.  I'm sure this information' could apply to almost any classic truck restoration!

Tools!!

I have put together a list of all the tools I used in this project.   As you will see you don,t need to go out and buy brand new tools to do this kind of work.   I have had my welder for 25 years or more.

Over the years I have collected the tools I have.  Since I am a welder by trade I already have one.. This welder is a Miller 230 amp ac, dc, gas, 100% duty cycle with a 16 horse engine with a 3500 watt generator on it.

I also have it on a trailer with a old cutting torch with Victor gauges.

I use propane on my burning outfit most of the time because it's cheaper to buy........some might disagree because you don,t get the heat from propane that you do from acetylene. Some say you would use more air.....it's choice.

I also have a gas deck saw for cutting metal with a 14" blade that comes in handy from time to time.

Here's a list of some of the tools I have:

  • Standard and metric tool set
  • Assorted jacks bottle and floor jacks
  • Assorted welding clamps C-clamps and welding clamps)
  • 6" and 4" Vise-heavy duty
  • Welding hoods and burning goggles
  • strikers and welding rod
  • straps for lifting
  • Fire extinguishers and potato sprayers with water in them.
  • (two) One Ton come-alongs
    • Here's a picture of some of the welding tools I have.

I am a certified welder and I do have a background in working in the Iron working industry.  I do plan on having information on welding later on.   Maybe some welding DVD's ?  Anyway your list of tools will vary but this is just a basic list you'll need to get going......you can always improvise.
